Description and Desired Qualifications
CH2M HILL Mechanical Engineering Lead - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The challenge? Help provide technical and application support for our engineering and design group. Our Mechanical Engineering Lead jobs provide you with an opportunity to work on state of the art industrial manufacturing facilities that include microelectronics, data centers, heavy industrial, research & development, and general manufacturing. Each day you will perform the routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principals. You should be a self-motivated, team-focused individual that has a Mechanical Engineering degree, 10 years of HVAC and piping design experience, microelectronics project experience, and has the desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each new Mechanical Engineering project.
Design responsibilities for our Mechanical Engineering Lead include:
Preparation and monitoring of engineering design estimates and design schedules.
Monitoring/checking of the quality of the deliverables being produced by the design team.
Coordination with other disciplines.
Design of mechanical systems for various types of industrial clients including general manufacturing, microelectronics, datacenters, food and beverage, consumer products and pharmaceutical.
These systems would include steam, chilled water, cooling water, potable water, Purified water, Water for Injection (WFI), High Purity water and compressed air.
Development of the design criteria which would define the requirements which the systems would be required to deliver.
Development of conceptual design and preliminary design documents which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, the development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's), and general arrangements.
Development of final design documents including specification, sequences of operation as well as the piping layout and final construction documents associated with these systems.
Thorough knowledge of codes and cGMPs related to the design of industrial and manufacturing facilities and systems.
Must be able to execute tasks within budget and scope.
Will assist in the development of junior personnel.
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
Must have the ability to follow direction and to collaborate with other team members.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years experience in the design of Mechanical Utility and piping systems.
- Thorough knowledge of codes related to design of industrial facilities and systems.
- Must have AutoCAD experience.
- Minimum Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Mecahnical Engineering License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the design of plumbing, fire protection systems or HVAC systems for Industrial applications is desired.
- Microstation experience recommended.
- 3D modeling experience is also desired using Smartplant, AutoCad MEP, REVIT MEP or Autoplant.
Degree Required
Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
