Description and Desired Qualifications

Civil CAD Technician – Toronto, Ontario

The challenge? The Water Group helps provide solutions, so people around the world can have access to safe, life-sustaining water. Our Civil CAD Technician career path is your opportunity to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure projects. You will be part of a team supporting the design and delivery of water, wastewater, and conveyance projects. You should be a self-motivated professional with a proven and successful engineering technology of municipal or similar type water and wastewater treatment facilities, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally.

Our CAD Technicians:

  • Will support design and delivery in the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Executer project drawings using MicroStation 2D and 3D application software (InRoads, GeoPAK), AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Provide desing and delivery coordination between project lead designers and project managers.
  • Prepare electronic drawing files within projects standards, using sketches, layouts, project instructions and notes.
  • Knowledge of advanced drafting practices. Familiarity with CADD principles (i.e., text placement and editing, layering, snap, precision input, etc).
  • The ability to perform basic geometric and trigonometric calculations and use basic drafting equipment.
  • Organizing one's own assignments to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Interfacing with Internal/External Contacts.
  • Ability to coordinate with other design disciplines for interference checking, quality control, ect.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • OACETT Certification – A.Sc.T or higher.
  • 7 years experience in site grading and servicing including yard piping, storm and sanitary drainage and conveyance design.
