Someone mentors you and in time, you mentor three people. Those three people will later mentor three individuals, and so on. Before you know it, one mentor has inspired many mentors to make a difference.
Mentorship
While it may be easy for an individual to focus exclusively on their professional accomplishments and pathway to advancement, the greater challenge—and the greater good—is to give back to others by sharing ideas about ways to increase learning, take more risks, build better career opportunities, and find new avenues for professional growth. At CH2M HILL, we mentor and prepare prodigies to gain the experience and qualifications necessary to be future leaders. Executive leaders provide individual mentoring to direct reports as well as other employees within the firm. Mentoring workshops are held periodically and the CH2M HILL Mentor of the Year Award is bestowed annually.
Mentoring Network
The first step is to determine your career goals and then identify someone who can provide guidance. Whether you choose to establish a formal relationship or take an informal approach by periodically asking for advice, you should have a development plan.
The Mentoring Network is a tool which helps you find a mentor, or sign up to be a mentor if you have knowledge to share and are established at CH2M HILL. This tool was designed as a supplemental process to finding a mentor, for those who might not have the opportunity to find a mentor in their particular office.
It's up to you to take the initiative to manage your own career!
My mentor’s ability to think beyond the obvious and develop new approaches which better serve our clients provides an excellent role model to learn from, and makes our work much more interesting.

"I don’t know of many other companies where the experiences of having so many possibilities open to me, and so many wonderful people to mentor me, would be the same."
